Son, salsa, rumba guaguancó, conga, timba fusion, chachacha: a dazzling constellation of sounds and styles make Cuba’s music among the world’s richest, and they’ll all be part of Habana Nights, onstage at Le Balcon. For this lively evening, Carlos Placeres will transport you to his hot Caribbean homeland, with selections from his three albums along with classics from the Cuban songbook.

Born in Vereda Nueva, on the outskirts of Havana, Carlos Placeres is a self-taught musician who started playing guitar when he was 10. After arriving in Quebec, he immersed himself in the province’s music scene and, in 2010, was nominated for a Juno and won a Félix in the world music category for his album Puro Café. Placeres is a proud standard bearer for Cuban music who has shared the stage with Omara Portuondo, the Afro-Cuban All Stars and Pink Martini. Join us for an evening that’s guaranteed to be as hot as a Havana Saturday night!
