The Colours of Brazil series celebrates the diverse styles and rhythms of Brazilian music, from bossa nova and samba to baião, côco, xote and maracatu. Come spend an evening with Paulo Ramos and the classic Brazilian songbook (Tom Jobim, Vinicius de Moraes, Roberto Menescal) as well as original songs by the talented singer-songwriter and guitarist.

Born in São Paulo to a family of musicians, Paulo Ramos moved to Montreal in 1986. Ever since, he has been a strong promoter of his native country’s music. He won the Juno for best world music album (Africa do Brasil, 1997) and the SPAQ prize for world music singer-songwriter in 2011. Ramos has appeared at many high-profile events, including the Montreal and Montreux jazz festivals. Since 2010, he has performed frequently with Jessica Vigneault, forming a duo that makes tender, shimmering sounds, midway between Montreal and São Paulo. At Le Balcon, Ramos and Vigneault will be joined by the fine percussionist Fabrice Laurent.

Don’t miss this musical journey to the sunny land of Carnival!
